At the September 2016 Community Meeting held at Corpus Christi Church, MHCC presented the findings from its report: “Primary Sites in Morningside Heights Vulnerable to Overdevelopment.” The meeting was attended by over 200 Morningside residents, including Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, State Assemblymember Daniel O’Donnell, and Councilmember Mark Levine, who all addressed the crowd. The purpose of the report (below) is to draw urgent attention to the potential for overdevelopment of many “at risk” or “soft” sites that threatens to change forever the face of Morningside Heights.
On January 25th, 2017, MHCC hosted a community visioning forum attended by over 150 people. The workshop was organized into small groups of 10-12 people, each with a trained facilitator and note-taker. The below report outlines the main concerns and priorities that emerged from the forum.
